Acoustic performance of Δ23dB (IIC 55) as InstaLay is used for hotel’s new LVT flooring

The Skuggi Hotel in Reykjavik, a member of the Kea Hotels Group, recently had new LVT flooring installed, using InstaLay 30hg, in the corridors and all 100 of its rooms. The hotel required the new floor to provide a high acoustic performance in order to create a quieter, more pleasant environment for its guests.

The flooring contractor was aware of InstaLay’s acoustic properties so recommended its use. The InstaLay, supplied by InstaFloor’s local distributor in Iceland, Egill Árnason ehf, was simply loose laid over the concrete sub-floor and the commercial quality 2.5mm LVTs were then positioned and pressed into place as the release film was removed to reveal InstaLay’s self-adhesive membrane. Installation of over 1,500m2 (16,100 sq ft) of new flooring was quick and clean on this time-sensitive project, with no wet adhesives or drying times required.

The customer was very pleased with the look and feel of the new flooring and delighted by InstaLay’s acoustic performance of Δ23dB (IIC 55).

Using InstaLay provided various additional benefits:
  • Made from recycled rubber crumb from worn vehicle tyres, environmentally-friendly InstaLay is fully Recyclable and a true ‘cradle-to-cradle’ product.
  • The LVT flooring could be walked on immediately after installation, with InstaLay’s rubber crumb construction providing excellent underfoot comfort.
  • The speed and ease of installation saved significant time and money.
  • Loose laid InstaLay will save time and reduce costs when the floor is replaced in the future.
